Food Security
Food security means everyone has physical and economic access to satisfactory amounts of nutrition that is safe and can be accessed at any time. Food security provides the people who produce our food with a reasonable living wage by growing, catching, producing, processing, transporting, retailing, and serving food. The main unit of food security is the admission to healthy food and the best nutrition for everyone. Food supply and food access are allied together therefore makes food security dependent on a maintainable food structure.
Individual food insecurity Individual food insecurity comes from continual small income shared with other factors, which vary from individual to individual and family to family. These aspects contain other demands on the family budget, disability, social and physical isolation, frailness, chronic illness, poor money management skills and lack of access to reasonably priced food. Some people may also lack the knowledge and skills to make appropriate meal choices. Having a sustainable food source Having a sustainable food system focuses on three main aspects which is environmental health, economic vitality, equity/human health. But what is the meaning of all these aspects? Environmental Health guarantees that the food productions are not effected in present time or for the future generations. Economic Vitality means that our food producers are capable of earning a living wage, this also ensures them to continue producing food. Human Health and Social Equity means that the community development and the health of the community is placed with importance’s in making sure that the food available is healthy, economically and physically available to the community. |
